Whale watching

The American continent with its two oceans is the meeting point of various humpback whale migration routes. Humpback whales have their feeding ground during summer time in the cold waters of the North and South Poles where they get enough fat to migrate during the summer months into warmer mostly tropical waters where they mate and give birth to the calves. This is one of the most extensive migration patterns of all existing mammals.

This is the time when humans can take advantage of getting close to these huge marine mammals and observe their behavior. The technique is called whalewatching and requires guidance of specialized professionals. The humpback whales group up and visitors get a magnificent spectacle of lob tailing, impressive jumps (breaching) and whale songs.

It is a unique experience to observe first hand the new-born calves accompanied by their mothers in the wild. Discover in this section our whale watching tours around the east pacific coast  and the Caribbean. Silver Banks not far from the Dominican Republic is one of the few places on earth where it is possible to snorkel with humpback whales.
